For Saturday Night:

  • If you do not see your Player Number listed in the email, unfortunately you were not selected for a team this year.
  • We will not have any parent / player meetings for those not selected for a team. We selected the top girls for every position, and there really is no other explanation for the results.

For Tuesday (August 3rd):

  • An email will be sent to everyone with the Player Numbers that have been selected for a team before 2 PM that afternoon.
  • If you do not see your Player Number listed in the email, unfortunately you were not selected for a team this year.

Girls Volleyball is a limited roster sport in OHSAA, so we can only take the top performers on the team. We will use all of the tryout metrics and skills assessments to determine placement of girls on the team ONLY. Any club experience, summer open gyms, previous seasons, leagues, etc. will not factor into the decision.

Once selected on a team, we will review with each player the expectations I have for the season. I will also review where and how I expect the player to be used. If the role is NOT what is needed, or if the player had a different expectation, or the player does not want to play on the team in the needed position, the player will TURN DOWN the offer.

If selected for a team, a parent and the player must attend the mandatory meeting on Monday, August 4th at 7 PM. Players are not officially on the team until AFTER this meeting where the team rules will be signed by player and parent at the conclusion of the meeting.

Some parents asked some general questions about tryouts. Here are some FAQs to help:

Q: My daughter missed one of the open gyms / my daughter missed some liftings.... Will that hurt her at tryouts?

A: Not at all. Everything in the summer is voluntary - including lifting. Just attending or NOT attending these things is not considered during tryouts. Lifting and open gyms help strengthen the player and help to improve her skills as a player --> this will obviously improve her chances at tryouts. During team selection, however, just as attendance to pre-season activities does not count against a player, it also cannot be used as an argument to be placed on a team.

Q: I am not able to attend tryouts on August 1-4th! Can I tryout later?

A: In most cases, no. There are rare circumstances where I will make an exception. Please notify me immediately if this is the case.

Q: We have vacation plans during the season / we have tickets to a concert / we have a dance competition / My daughter plays another sport... Is it ok to miss practices and games?

A: Once the season starts (August 4th), I expect the girls there at every practice and game. Other than God, their health, and school, I expect the team to be their highest priority. Any missed practices, scrimmages, or games will result in reduced playtime to dismissal from the team depending on how much is missed. Coaches have very high expectations for the season, and in order to accomplish our goals, we will need all players to learn our system and master it by playoffs. This is a lengthy process, and we need the girls there every day - Monday through Saturday. Some of you are used to CYO or middle school sports that only have practices 2-3 times per week. This is high school, and if you look around, you'll find that most high school sports practice with similar schedules. If the player makes a team, we will review this in detail during the parents meeting.

Q: How many girls will be taken for Varsity, JV, and Freshmen?

A: Our goal is to take 10-12 varsity, 10-12 JV, and 10-12 freshmen. This can vary however!
